Artificial Intelligence
This voluntary statement sets out our approach to the responsible use of digital systems, including artificial intelligence, within our organisation. It explains how technology is used to support safe, lawful and effective services while maintaining appropriate human oversight.
This voluntary statement sets out our ethical approach to the use of artificial intelligence in our business and medical services. We use artificial intelligence only where it supports safe, lawful and effective care, protects confidentiality and improves the quality, efficiency or accessibility of our services. This notice applies to any administrative, operational or analytical uses of artificial intelligence within the organisation. Responsibility for any decisions made by automation or artificial intelligence remains with the relevant professionals and the organisation.
Ethical Use of AI
We use artificial intelligence as a supportive tool rather than as a substitute for professional judgment, clinical responsibility or appropriate governance. We aim to use these systems in ways that are proportionate, beneficial and consistent with our legal, regulatory and professional obligations.
Human Oversight
Important decisions affecting patients, clients, staff or business operations remain subject to meaningful human oversight. We do not rely on artificial intelligence alone for clinical decision-making, diagnosis, prescribing or any other activity that requires qualified professional judgment.
Safety, Fairness and Reliability
Where artificial intelligence tools are used, we assess their purpose, limits and known risks before adoption. We aim to use systems that are sufficiently accurate, secure and reliable for the task in question, and we remain alert to the risk of bias, unfair outcomes, misleading outputs and inappropriate automation.
Privacy and Confidentiality
We handle personal, clinical and confidential information in accordance with data protection law, confidentiality duties and our wider information governance obligations. We do not use artificial intelligence tools in ways that would compromise privacy, security or contractual confidentiality requirements. Artificial intelligence tools will only be used where appropriate legal, contractual and technical safeguards are in place to ensure confidentiality.
