Sustainability

This voluntary statement has been published to set out our commitment to the environment, sustainability and reducing our carbon footprint.

This voluntary statement sets out our commitment to environmental sustainability and to reducing the environmental impact of our services.  We seek to minimise environmental impact across our operations through practical business decisions while maintaining safe, lawful and effective services.

Sustainable Energy

We seek to minimise avoidable energy use across our operations.  We favour efficient digital systems and low-consumption tools, and we take energy efficiency into account when selecting technology, hosting and other suppliers.  We also support the reuse and recycling of equipment and materials where this is practical.

Responsible Business

We recognise that environmental responsibility forms part of responsible and lawful business practice.  We aim to meet healthcare needs without creating avoidable waste, travel or resource consumption.  Our service model relies on digital systems and remote delivery wherever appropriate, allowing us to reduce paper use, physical infrastructure and routine travel.

Paperless Services

We use digital-first processes across our business wherever this is consistent with safety, governance and service quality.  This approach reduces paper use in internal communication, client correspondence and document management.

When developing and maintaining digital services, we also consider their environmental impact.  We seek to limit unnecessary storage, bandwidth and processing demand and to select efficient hosting and technology providers where appropriate.

Travel and Remote Working

We seek to reduce the environmental impact of travel by using remote working and virtual meetings as standard methods of delivering our services.  This approach minimises routine commuting and avoids unnecessary business travel while supporting an efficient national service model.  Where travel is required, we encourage the use of practical lower-impact transport options where appropriate.
